Turner's Life
Turner lived a busy life, but with his hard work and elbow grease he overcame it. Frederick went to John Hopkins University for his Ph. D in History. From then on he was a professor in Wisconsin, three years after he earned his Ph. D, he wrote his famous document "Frontier Thesis" or,"Turner's Thesis" as some call it. He also wrote the,"Sectional Hypothesis" in those twenty years.
After he became a professor at Harvard for another thirteen years.
In his life he published little, but he was a very committed researcher. Some say he has an encyclopedic knowledge of American history. He was a big part of the "American Historical Foundation", where his few documents were presented. Included in the American Historical Review was Turner's frontier thesis. This essay was probably the item that made Fredrick so famous. Annoyed by the university regents who demanded less research and more teaching
and state service, Turner sought out an environment that would support research.
